Switchee was founded in 2015, and in our time of operating, we often encounter a lot of questions about our business, its history and our product. It certainly makes sense when you consider that our product and our business are extremely unusual in the affordable housing space, both in the way we do business and in the team that we have pulled together to do so. We’ve decided, therefore, that it makes a lot of sense to put down in writing what we say to the many housing providers who approach us about our technology.

How much is the Switchee system?
This depends on a number of different deployment factors. Switchee is not like a standard thermostat where you purchase a unit for £150 and that is the end of your relationship with the supplier. Our product offering consists of a physical piece of hardware (our smart thermostat and sensor arrays) and an online software package. As a result, we have opted to tailor our pricing for each individual customer's needs - so a housing provider which has 500 properties but needs 3 units per property will get the same value for money as a housing provider wishing to install a Switchee in every one of its 50,000 units. If you have time - we’d love to walk you through our pricing structure.
Who does Switchee work with?
Switchee currently works with over 50 housing providers in the UK and abroad. We pride ourselves on the fact that our products are being deployed to large and small housing providers alike and in a tonne of different configurations. We have clients who are deploying Switchee into managed care homes as a way to manage individual room heating as well as communal areas. We have clients who are deploying Switchee into their entire stock in order to reap the maintenance and communication benefits. You can find out more about some of our clients through our case studies.
Who recommends you?
As we know that credibility is gained not through words but through actions, we’re proud to say that we can point to any one of our clients as a model for deployment. Saying that - below you will find a selection of quotes from our existing clients about Switchee and it’s value.
Matt Brazier, Director of IT and Services at Flagship said that “Knowing that we see a net return of £2 for every £1 we invest in Switchee, and also put another £2 into our residents’ pockets, confirms the value proposition.”
Christopher Soper, Senior Asset Management Officer at Dudley Council said that they are “pleased to be working with an innovative UK based tech business that has a social agenda to reduce fuel poverty in the UK which also supports the council’s aim to work towards a low carbon economy.”
Nic Wedlack, Sustainability Manage from Peabody said that their first Switchee units “enabled Peabody to identify and target properties requiring maintenance, leading to 40 interventions and saving Peabody £1000s in long-term remedial costs.”

How many Switchees have been sold to affordable housing providers?
This one we’re going to have to date stamp as every week the number increases! As of July 2020, Switchee has sold over 6000 units with specifications for a full rollout for a number of housing providers. With now-proven benefits we expect that number to skyrocket in the next two years.
Where is Switchee made?
Switchee has been designed and constructed in the UK. We have an in-house team of software and hardware engineers who have built the device and it is constructed in a factory in High Wycombe. That is where we do our quality control and testing to ensure every unit works exactly as expected and we remake any devices that do not meet our high standards.
How long is the warranty on a Switchee?
Switchee’s hardware has a 2-year warranty which covers replacements but we have designed the units to last the same amount of time as a boiler. That means if Switchee is put into a property with a new boiler, we fully expect that the unit will still be functioning correctly by the time you come to replace the boiler. That means you don’t have to worry about replacing a thermostat until your boiler replacement scheme comes back around.
